Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb of fresh mushrooms (sliced)
  • Two tbsp of flour
  • One cup (240 ml) of sour cream
  • About 3/4 cup of beef broth (cut into 1 inch pieces)
  • One tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • Three tbsp of vegetable oil
  • One package of rice or egg noodles (should be cooked as well as drained)
  • One tsp of garlic or three cloves
  • Pepper and salt
  • A large onion finely chopped
  • Two tbsp of tomato paste

Directions

Step One: Brown the Beef

Season the beef first using your salt and pepper. Then put oil in your pressure cooker and allow it to heat over medium to high heat. Add your meat in the pressure cooker to brown it while stirring occasionally. To brown the beef, set your cooker to browning via the settings. The browning may take some time but never skip the step because it adds the rich and great flavor to the gravy.

Step Two: Add Your Other Ingredients

When all the beef is browned, add your flour to the cooker and stir until well mixed with the browned meat. Put the onion, Worcestershire sauce, mushrooms, tomato paste and the garlic into the cooker and stir the ingredients to allow them to mix completely.

Step Three: Allow the Meal to Cook

After mixing all the ingredients thoroughly, cover the pressure cooker using its lid tightly to allow steam to build up. The food should cook for at least 20 minutes so you can do your things within that period without having to worry the food might overcook.

Step Four: Discharge the Pressure

As soon as the cooking time is over, you need to immediately discharge the pressure. This process can pose danger if not done the proper way so ensure you do it as per the manufacturer’s guide provided. Then remove the cooker’s lid and add your sour cream. Stir the mixture until thoroughly blended and your stroganoff beef is ready. Serve it while still hot with or even over hot steamed rice, egg noodles. You can also sprinkle the dish with some chopped parsley or paprika if you like.

No doubt cooking stroganoff beef using a pressure cooker is easy and fast. You get very tender beef in a tasty and rich, velvety sauce. The cooker also locks in all the flavors and nutrients while doing most of the cooking work for you.
